School counseling at Víkurskóli

School counselors advocate for students, protect their welfare and seek solutions to their issues. School counselors are bound by confidentiality regarding students' private matters, except as required by Act No. 80/2002 on Child Protection. All students and parents can seek help from school counselors.

The school counselor offers a confidential service for students.

The school counselor's main responsibilities include:

● Providing counseling and education on study skills and test-taking strategies

● Guiding students through academic and career decisions

● Offering personal and social support to students

● Providing support on bullying issues and leading prevention efforts

● Orienting new students

● Leading rotational periods for 9th-grade students covering key topics such as study techniques, time management, reading and note-taking skills, self-image, and related activities.

School counselor's hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.

Parents can also contact the school and career counselor with requests or information.
